How to stop pancakes from absorbing maple syrup?

I find that when this happens you can't taste the maple syrup any more. Is there any way too keep the syrup from being absorbed into the pancakes?

Dipping the pancakes is the best idea but stopping them from absorbing seems nearly impossible because pancakes are pourrous or switch to wipped cream insted of syrup ( I did that)
